We offer up to twelve unassessed mini-pupillages a year. You will shadow a number of barristers and we will try and ensure you are paired with someone practising in an area of law you have expressed an interest in. You will typically have the opportunity to attend court with our members and to consider sets of papers.
- What we're looking for
To be eligible to apply for mini-pupillage at Hardwicke you must:
- Be in the second year of your law degree at least or on the GDL or conversion course; and
- Be able to travel to London to spend time with us.
- How to apply
We offer up to twelve mini-pupillages per year split into three per quarter:
- 1 January – 31 March
- 1 April – 30 June
- 1 July – 30 September
- 1 October – 31 December
The deadline to apply is one month before the start of your chosen quarter.
Please apply using our application form and email the same to our Mini-Pupillage Secretary, specifying clearly which period you are applying for. We ask anybody who applies for a position at Hardwicke to complete the Hardwicke Equality and Diversity survey. Please note that we do not accept CVs or covering letters.
If you have any particular preference about a specific area of law, please indicate this in your covering email and we will try to accommodate this as much as is practicable.
We receive an extremely high number of applications for mini-pupillage and our places are limited. Please do not be deterred from applying for pupillage if you are unsuccessful in obtaining a mini-pupillage with us.
- Pegasus Access Scheme
We are proud to be part of the Pegasus Access Scheme, a social mobility initiative launched by the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple in association with over 50 chambers (including Hardwicke). The scheme gives candidates from underrepresented backgrounds the opportunity to take part in a range of mini-pupillages at the partner chambers.
