Hardwicke’s Barbara Hewson has been involved in a test case on privacy in the Court of Protection. In Independent News Media & others v A the court was asked to admit the media to a hearing in the involving a patient with remarkable gifts. The Court had to decide whether the media had shown “good reason” for being admitted. The judge decided to admit the media, albeit subject to reporting restrictions.
The patient was represented by Gavin Millar QC and Barbara Hewson, and permission has been granted to appeal to the Court of Appeal.
